Anamaria Vartolomei, born on April 9, 1999, in Bacău, Romania, is a French-Romanian actress who has gained international attention. She made her acting breakthrough in 2011 as a child actress in I'm Not a F**king Princess (original title My Little Princess, directed by Eva Ionesco). For her leading role in the acclaimed abortion drama L'Événement (2021, directed by Audrey Diwan), she won the Lumière Award for Best Actress and the César Award for Most Promising Actress.
In 2019, she played a central role in the French-Swiss family drama JUST KIDS (2019, directed by Christophe Blanc), in which she plays Lisa, one of three siblings forced to survive together after the death of their parents. The film was shown at festivals and received positive reviews.
In addition to her cinema appearances, Vartolomei has also gained international recognition for her leading roles in The Count of Monte Cristo (2024), in which she plays Haydée, and in Being Maria (2024, directed by Jessica Palud), where she portrays Maria Schneider. Other notable films include Méduse (2022) and Traffic (2024) – her roles impressively demonstrate her range from historical drama to arthouse cinema.
