About Trees and Coal

Cinéma indépendant
| 58 min

Generation after generation, my family took care of a small grove planted above an ancient closed down coalmine pit in the Borinage region. Learning my father is incurably ill, in order to better understand what my connections are to the story of his life, I go looking for images. Multiplying media, translating impressions, I return freely to the family’s origins. I travel through intimate memories that link me and sometimes lead me away from those trees strongly rooted in coal ground. Je voyage dans mes souvenirs plus intimes qui me relient et parfois m’éloignent de ces arbres plantés sur cette terre de charbon.
