An actress, a painter and three classically trained musicians came to New York from Belgrade before the Balkan War to pursue their art and their dream.
In the 1990s, they, along with the rest of the world, are stunned to watch bloody wars and ethnic violence unfold in the former Yugoslavia. The homeland they left no longer exists as they once knew it.
In gripping and at the same time sensitive images, the film sensitively approaches the artists and their work. Personal memories and reflections replace the flood of media reports.
The Zurich filmmaker Andrea Staka, of Croatian-Bosnian origin, portrays stories between everyday life, stage, painting and music from a personal and subjective point of view.
