Christian Petzold's interpretation of the ancient myth as a powerful, enchanting love story starring Paula Beer, Franz Rogowski, Maryam Zaree, Jacob Matschenz and Anne Ratte-Polle. Undine (Paula Beer) lives in Berlin. A small apartment on Alexanderplatz, a contract as a city historian, a modern city life as if on call. When her boyfriend Johannes (Jacob Matschenz) leaves her, her world comes crashing down. The magic is destroyed. If her love is betrayed, as the old fairy tales say, she must kill the faithless man and return to the water from which she once came. Undine resists this curse of destroyed love. "Hardly any film by Christian Petzold has been so playfully poetic and humorous. And Paula Beer as the mysterious water woman: enchanting!" (ZDF Heute Journal)
