For the three men at the center of this docufiction, the war has never ended. The veterans of the Angolan War are reluctant to abandon the 30-year old revolutionary spirit.
Always on guard, they continue to train dressed in their old uniforms for an endless mission: a war game in which they still can feel respected, strong and, above all, spiritually young. They are the last Samurai of the Cuban Revolution.
Director Irene Gutiérrez immersed herself in Cuba’s boundless natural spaces, turning the viewer into the fourth member of the small military group.
"Their wizened faces are the precise symbol of the generation that put the mandates of the Cuban Revolution before their own aspirations as individuals. They represent a way of being in the world that is lost nowadays." (Directors note)
