Robert Nieuwenhuys (born in Semarang, Dutch East Indies on 30 June 1908, died in Amsterdam on 12 January 1999) was a Dutch writer known for his works about Indonesian literature and culture during the colonial period. He played a significant role in introducing Indonesian writers to a wider audience in the Netherlands. He is best known for his book 'Oost-Indische Spiegel' (Mirror of the Dutch East Indies), which provides a comprehensive overview of Dutch colonial literature. He also wrote biographies and essays exploring the complexities of the colonial experience.
