Kinshasa Beta Mbonda

In Kinshasa, a dozen young percussionists animate the popular district of Barumbu. They are the Beta Mbonda, former delinquents from violent gangs - the Kulunas. Music gave a new meaning to their lives and sealed their friendship. Between odd jobs and musical improvisations, they invent rhythms and sing about the difficulties of everyday life with a light-hearted spirit of play. Like a Greek choir, using traditional instruments or banal objects, their songs resonate in the space of Kinshasa and echo a city-world adrift.
