Hard Paint

Pedro earns his money in chat rooms. As NeonBoy he slowly paints his naked body and streams his act on the internet. Debuted at the Berlinale Panorama and winner of the 2018 Teddy. Glowing in the dark, NeonBoy follows his users’commands and finally agrees to meet one of them in a private chat room for money. But things change when somebody starts imitating his performances. Pedro agrees to go on a date with his mysterious rival in what will become a rendezvous with far-reaching consequences. HARD PAINT combines a personal coming-of-age story with social criticism. As with all of the previous films by directing duo Filipe Matzembacher and Marcio Reolon, we find ourselves in southern Brazil, where we encounter young gay men in search of intimacy, community and security.
