Aharon has devoted his entire life to taking care of his son Uri. Together they have created their own little world, a routine far removed from the hectic world outside. But Uri is autistic, and now, as a young adult, he is supposed to move into a specialized institution. For Aharon, this means giving his child into the hands of strangers – a decision that is extremely difficult for him. As the moment of farewell approaches, Aharon makes an impulsive decision: instead of taking Uri to the home, he flees with him. On their journey through Israel, the central question becomes more and more pressing – is it really Uri who is not ready for the change, or is it Aharon who cannot let go? HERE WE ARE premiered at the Cannes Film Festival 2020 in the official selection and was received with great enthusiasm worldwide. At the Jerusalem Film Festival, the film won five awards, including Best Film, Best Screenplay and Best Director. It was also nominated for Best Male Lead at the 2021 European Film Awards. Director Nir Bergman, known for his empathetic character studies, sensitively stages a deeply touching father-son story.
