1770. Marianne is a painter, commissioned to paint the wedding portrait of Héloïse, a young woman who has just left the convent. Héloïse resists her destiny as a wife by refusing to pose. Marianne has to paint her in secret. Introduced to her as a lady-in-waiting, she watches her.
