In a maritime region with windswept dunes, a kind of hermit with mysterious powers becomes the guardian angel of a young girl. The light-eyed stranger has a beautiful, ravaged face, his companion is a graceful, white-skinned brunette with a fragile grace. When he is not resolutely killing the men who do evil to the young woman with a gun or a stick, he walks with her for a long time on the moor and in the woods, sometimes kneeling in front of the sun or the sea, addressing a silent prayer to the majesty of the landscape, the purpose, content and recipient of which are unknown.
