The King's Speech

The new king of England stutters. He enlists help from the unorthodox speech therapist, Lionel Logue, and they form a special friendship. Immediately after the death of his father and the dishonorable abdication of his brother, Edward, Bertie (Colin Firth), who has had a severe stutter problem all his life, is crowned King George VI of England. His country is on the brink of war at the time, and the people desperately demand a leader in these anxious times. His wife Elizabeth (Helena Bonham Carter) decides to contact eccentric speech therapist Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush) to help George improve his speech. Despite a somewhat difficult start, Lionel's unorthodox method seems to pay off: not only does the King develop the confidence in his voice to address the people, a close friendship develops between George and Lionel.
