Les danseurs d'Echternach

Legend has it that, In the fifteenth century, a violinist unjustly condemned to be hanged in Echternach was miraculously saved by the sound of his violin. On hearing the music, the witnesses of the event began to jump on their feet... The violinist could then descend from the scaffold and leave. It took St. Willibrord's intervention to free the witnesses from their spell. It is this music which, every year, accompanies the dancing procession of Echternach on Whitsun Tuesday.
