San Pedro Mallo is a small village in Bierzo. Since 1936, a “missing person” has been resting in a secret grave. His exhumation provides the freedom to speak and, little by little, reveals a story both individual and collective, a story veiled by the nearly 40 years of Franco’s dictatorship. “Los Nietos”, the grandchildren, are the ones now breaking the silence and undertaking this hard, essential work of Memory. More than thirty thousand missing people currently rest in mass graves in Spain.
