The Bamako's Dyers

Color outburst, mix of traditional and modern styles in Bamako's dimities and fabrics. Grey of the soil and deep blue of the pagnes in Gounnoli, village of the dogon country. Everything seems in opposition between these two color universes. Meanwhile, beyond these chromatic contrasts, we find women in fight to improve their daily life, to assert themselves inside their polygamous weddings. To shot the dyer women's work proves to be a very good path to enter into the Malian women's world, to understand their aspirations and their personal fights.
