French actor, director, and screenwriter Mathieu Kassovitz, born in 1967, gained international recognition in 1995 with his socially critical film *La Haine*. For this directorial work, he won the Best Director award at the Cannes Film Festival, and the film received the César for Best Film. As an actor, he is known to a wide audience for his role as Nino Quincampoix in *Amélie* (2001). His versatile acting work also includes appearances in international productions such as Steven Spielberg's *Munich* (2005) and the lead role in the series *The Bureau*.
