Lars Eidinger is one of the most famous German actors of his generation and has been a permanent member of the ensemble at Berlin's Schaubühne theater for many years. He first made a name for himself in theater before gaining widespread attention in film and television. His versatility is evident in roles ranging from avant-garde cinema to sophisticated dramas and major international productions.
He made his cinema debut in 2007 in AFTER EFFECT, directed by Stephan Geene, in which he played the role of Karsten Starel. In 2013, he took on the role of composer Ludwig van Beethoven in the docudrama DIE AKTE BEETHOVEN by Ralf Pleger and Hedwig Schmutte, demonstrating his talent for historical figures. Another important milestone in his career was ALL MY LOVING (2019, directed by Edward Berger), in which he played Stefan Hoffmann. The film was screened at international festivals and received widespread acclaim.
In addition to these projects, Eidinger has appeared in numerous other films, including Everyone Else (2009, directed by Maren Ade), What Remains (2012, directed by Hans-Christian Schmid), The Flowers of Yesterday (2016, directed by Chris Kraus), and White Noise (2022, directed by Noah Baumbach). He has also established himself on television, for example through his participation in the internationally successful series “Babylon Berlin” (2017–2022, directed by Tom Tykwer, Henk Handloegten, and Achim von Borries).
Lars Eidinger has received several awards for his performances, including the 2014 German Film Critics' Award for Best Actor and the 2019 Grimme Prize for his role in “Familie Lotzmann auf den Barrikaden.” These honors underscore his status as an outstanding actor who impresses both on stage and on screen.
