Silencieuses

Claude François (the director, not the singer) passed away a year ago, leaving us with a fascinating record of the artworks scattered across our country, but which we have too often lost the ability to see. The “silencieuses” are the sculptures that line the streets of Brussels, some celebrated, some not, treated not as numbers in an educational catalogue, but in terms of what they conjure up in the form of presence, anecdotes or memories. A much-needed invitation to wander around with our eyes wide open.
