Sylvia Chang

Born in Taiwan in 1953, filmmaker Sylvia Chang is a formative figure in Asian cinema. Her versatile career as an actor, director, and screenwriter spans several decades. As a director, her works include the film *20 30 40* (2004), which competed for the Golden Bear at the Berlinale, and the multi-nominated work *Love Education* (2017). Her acting has also been widely acclaimed; she has received the Golden Horse Award for Best Leading Actress multiple times, most recently for *A Light Never Goes Out* (2022). In 2018, her influential body of work was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Asian Film Awards.
