Karen Gillan

Scottish actor and filmmaker Karen Gillan, born in Inverness in 1987, trained at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London. She gained international attention for her role as Amy Pond in the British series *Doctor Who*. Gillan became known to a wider audience as Nebula in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, starting with *Guardians of the Galaxy* (2014), and as Ruby Roundhouse in the *Jumanji* films. In addition to her acting work, for which she received an Empire Award, she is also active as a director and screenwriter, having realized the feature film *The Party's Just Beginning* (2018).
