Baker earned renown in the 1950s as a leading exponent of cool jazz, playing alongside Charlie Parker and appearing on Gerry Mulligan's quartet recordings. His appearance and troubled personal life also attracted attention, gaining him a significant following. He is best known for albums like "Chet Baker Sings" and "It Could Happen to You". Though primarily celebrated as a trumpeter, Baker's fragile vocals were a distinctive feature of his performances. He had roles in movies such as "Hell's Horizon" (1955) and "All Night Long" (1962). He directed the documentary film "Let's Get Lost" (1988). His career was marked by periods of success and decline, impacted by drug addiction.
